LONDON · A MORE CONSIDERED STAY
Covent Garden or Bankside? Two London Stays Compared
Weigh a compact hotel room with a mini-kitchen against larger room categories, then check the workspace and station connections that matter to your trip.

Start with the room decision
Choose The Resident Covent Garden’s King Room if approximately 21 m² and a mini-kitchen suit your routine. Consider Native Bankside’s Studio or One Bedroom if more floor space matters: their respective ranges are 23–40 m² and 34–45 m². The useful trade-off is a compact room with specified kitchen equipment versus larger room categories whose individual dimensions and arrangements need checking. The comparison here is between these two properties.
If you plan to eat out and mainly want to make drinks or reheat food, the King Room has a fridge, microwave, kettle, BRITA filter tap and Nespresso coffee machine. Treat it as a mini-kitchen for those tasks, rather than a full cooking setup. There is no onsite restaurant, so choose differently if dining within the property is central to your stay.
Decide what extra space would change
The Native Bankside Studio range starts at 23 m², a modest increase over the King Room’s approximately 21 m², and extends to 40 m². That spread matters more than the upper figure alone: booking the category does not promise its largest size. If extra floor space is your main reason to switch, compare the selected room’s dimensions before treating it as a substantial upgrade.
The One Bedroom range is 34–45 m², making it worth considering when you expect to spend more time in your accommodation. Open Plan One Bedroom and Premium One Bedroom also have ranges of 34–45 m². Matching size ranges do not establish matching layouts or bedroom separation. Let the actual arrangement guide your choice, especially if different activities need their own space. Neither these category names nor their dimensions establish full-kitchen or laundry provision in the selected room.
If you need to work during your stay, compare the available workspaces. The King Room has a desk with USB and power points, plus free Wi-Fi, supporting work within the room. Native offers a communal work area on the first-floor mezzanine. Favour the former if an in-room desk is your priority; consider the latter if a shared place to work would be useful.
Match the practical details to your plans
Check which of these stations works best for your plans. From The Resident, allow about a three-minute walk to Charing Cross or a six-minute walk to Covent Garden. From Native, London Bridge, Southwark and Blackfriars are each listed as less than a ten-minute walk away. Compare your planned journeys from those stations before choosing a base.
Native has 24/7 reception, check-in from 15:00 and check-out by 11:00. Daily refresh and weekly full cleaning are available to all guests. These details may matter if you need reception assistance during your stay or want regular housekeeping. Plan your arrival and departure around the stated check-in and check-out times.
